Few activities span the generations better than square dancing, so parent/child and family events are a great fit for square dancing, and I've called these kind of dances for schools, churches, and for the father-daughter programs of the YMCAs of Sonoma and Marin Counties. It is always great, heartwarming fun to watch the generations share bright moments together.

I follow the general age guidelines that I use for teaching in schools, adjusting the program to suit the ages of the children involved. But of course the emphasis here is more on fun and less on teaching than in the schools. Also, I always play free dances for the parents to dance with the kids. And of course I work my program around the considerations and agendas of the groups involved.

These events are always a satisfying, joyous and bonding experience for the participants.
